The Price of the Shot

They say Africa is a photographer’s dream. They’re right. But dreams don’t come easy.

Most people are happy with the postcard, but to find a frame that holds weight - that truly reflects the soul of a place - you have to be willing to push further. We spent six months crossing Southern Africa, pushing this Land Rover and our own limits to find incredible photographs.

This isn't a highlight reel. This is the reality of the chase. From the unknown tracks of Angola to the ancient silence of Namibia, a 5-day obsessive hunt for a single leopard in Kruger to the treacherous highs of Lesotho, I explore why capturing a meaningful image requires you to leave a piece of yourself out there in the dirt.

The Expedition Log:

  • Angola: Navigating the Shipwreck Coast and the red dust of the Colinas.

  • Namibia: The ghost worlds of Deadvlei and the sand-reclaimed rooms of Kolmanskop.

  • South Africa: Tracking the elusive leopard through the dense bush of Kruger National Park.

  • Lesotho: Confronting claustrophobia in the 'Kingdom in the Clouds.'

  • Mozambique: Capturing the abstract tidal flats of Vilanculos.

  • Botswana: A final test of patience in the flooded tracks of the Chobe wilderness.
