Within the land's narrow confines an incredible country, culture and landscape - whether man-made or natural - is embraced and it is purely breathtaking. From the simple, traditional life found along the old post-road, from Edo (Tokyo) to Kyoto, to pure serenity of Japan's endless gardens and shrines. There is a tangible energy - no more present then at the resting place of Kobo Dashi, Oku-in.

Yet as surrounded by tradition and heritage as Japan is, there is no stopping it's hunger for technology and progress. It is a country full of surprises - sometime strange - but always scintillating. When it all gets too much, the red leaves of autumn and a vista of Fuji can be heard calling and it all just melts away...
